A Road Trip Itinerary in Algarve must be done at least once in a lifetime, from Vila Real de Santo António to the end of the Vicentine Coast in Aljezur / Odeceixe. This is one of the most beautiful regions in Portugal, with some of the best beaches in the whole country, and an unmistakable landscape.

I have already done this Algarve Itinerary! Do you want to know everything I visited?

I’m going to share a lot of tips in this article with things to do in Algarve for 5, 10, 15 or 20 days. I will mention the best beaches, the best tours, the best cities and towns, and even the best trails to walk.

Map | Algarve Road Trip Itinerary with things to do in 5 to 20 days

Here is also the map of the road trip that I propose. Consider the orange, blue and green colors as three 5-day itineraries in Algarve, and the black color related with things to do in Algarve if you have more than 15 days and have already visited the rest. So, 20 days in total! 😉

Important concepts about Algarve

Before presenting my road trip itinerary in Algarve, let’s clarify some concepts.

1. What is the Vicentine Coast and where is it located?

Vicentine Coast is the region between Odeceixe and Burgau in Algarve, therefore it does not include any part of Alentejo, as many people think. It’s just a section of Algarve Coast!

Sometimes, I myself write and use the words “Vicentine Coast” for the entire coast from Sines to Sagres, but it is not correct.

2. What is the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast, and where is it located?

The Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park comprises the entire Vicentine Coast and adds to it the coast of the Southwest Alentejo, that is, it goes from São Torpes to Burgau. In this article, the itinerary I’m proposing only includes the part referring to the Vicentine Coast, which is part of Algarve!

Amoreira and Monte Clérigo Beaches | Algarve Itinerary
Amoreira and Monte Clérigo Beaches | Algarve Itinerary

3. What is the Algarve Coast and where is it located?

Algarve Coast begins in Odeceixe and ends at the mouth of Guadiana in Vila Real de Santo António. It is divided into two different regions, known by Portuguese people as Barlavento Algarvio and Sotavento Algarvio.

4. What is the difference between Barlavento Algarvio and Sotavento Algarvio?

The difference lies in the direction in which the wind blows on these coasts: you will clearly feel much stronger winds on Barlavento than on Sotavento. See how both portuguese words have the sufix “vento” that means wind in english.

Barlavento Algarvio comprises the municipalities of Vila do Bispo, Aljezur, Monchique, Lagos, Portimão, Lagoa, Silves and Albufeira. It’s the entire western Algarve.

Sotavento Algarvio comprises the municipalities of Loulé, Faro, São Brás de Alportel, Olhão, Tavira, Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António. It’s the entire eastern Algarve.

Why should you visit Algarve?

Is it really that spectacular to visit Algarve? I believe so, without a doubt! I leave you all the main reasons below.

1. Algarve has some of the best beaches in the world

Several Algarve beaches have already been considered among the best and most beautiful in the world by several renowned international publications. In Portugal, this region also holds some of the classified wonders of the country, such as Odeceixe Beach and Ria Formosa, the latter full of deserted and paradisiacal islands.

2. You have warm sea water in Eastern Algarve

It’s true, that’s one of the reasons why it is said that Ria Formosa Natural Park has paradisiacal islands.

3. Algarve Coast has many caves to discover by the sea

The coastal limestone cliffs allow you to explore many caves by the sea, some of them impressive, such as the Benagil Cave. Algarve is the ideal destination for water activities, to rent a kayak or a board paddle and go exploring. You also can go on several boat guided tours.

4. The trails in Algarve are extraordinary along the cliffs

  • Have you heard of the Fishermen’s Trail on the Vicentine Coast?
  • Have you heard of the Seven Hanging Valleys, the best trail in Algarve?
  • Ever heard of Ponta da Piedade in Lagos?

5. Algarve is an excellent destination for surf lovers on the Vicentine Coast

If you’re looking for surfing when you visit Algarve and the Vicentine Coast, then head to the beaches of Sagres, Arrifana or Amado, in the southwest Algarve: this region of the country also has excellent wave beaches!

6. Algarve adjusts to your budget: it has luxury resorts but also cheap accommodation

Visiting Algarve should be a priority for anyone wanting to get to know the south of Portugal. The good thing is that there is no shortage of luxury resorts for those looking for comfort, and more economical solutions for those looking to save money for other adventures. I’m sure you’ll love this region of the Portuguese coast.

What to eat and where to eat when visiting Algarve?

The gastronomy of this region of Portugal is based essentially on fish/seafood: sea bream, sea bass, mussels, limpets, barnacles, tuna, razor clams, octopus, squid, sardines, among many others.

Be sure to try the seafood cataplana!

There are also fabulous regional sweets to try, one of which is a true wonder of Portugal: Folar de Olhão. In Portimão, look for Morgados and Fig Cheeses, and in Lagos, choose Dom Rodrigo.

As for restaurants, I have many tips in the articles dedicated to the different Algarve municipalities. Please access them through the links I left above. In each of them there is a section like this!

More useful tips to visit Algarve

  • Algarve is in the south of Portugal, and has an airport in Faro, that connects to several cities in Europe. I recommend using Skyscanner and Google Flights to do some research before buying your plane tickets, comparing prices and flight conditions.
  • You have nice public transports between main locations in Algarve, some by train, and others by bus. Always check Rome2Rio website to find out all possible ways to get to a specific destination. In Algarve, trains are with CP – Comboios de Portugal; buses are with Rede Expressos or Vamus Algarve (there are more, but these are the essential tips).
  • Having a car is very important for a trip that requires traveling all over Algarve and Vicentine Coast, even if you have good public transports in the most touristic areas. I recommend renting a car with Discover Cars, which I always use on my trips. It allows you to compare prices and conditions between rental companies available on your destinations.
  • To be protected against several types of travel hazards, I also recommend that you take out travel insurance for your stay in Algarve, and I recommend to do it with World Nomads.

Algarve Road Trip Itinerary | 5, 10, 15 or 20 days

And now, the travel itineraries with all things to do in Algarve. I prepared many itineraries, as you will see next, so you have many possible choices for you visit in this article. Do not try to visit the complete coast in a small amount of time, visit it region by region, it’s preferable to end up knowing one region in detail during your stay than to get to know the whole Algarve but only superficially.

Proposal for 6 Algarve Itineraries

There are 6 itineraries that I have prepared for you, divided by number of days and regions in Algarve. I also leave you here some videos of my own trip. Hope you like them!

1st Algarve Itinerary – 5 days through the most touristic area: Lagoa, Albufeira and Lagos

In this Road Trip Itinerary to visit Algarve in 5 days, I will show you what to do in the most touristic areas of Lagoa, Albufeira and Lagos. It is for me the most beautiful part of Algarve to visit, and the one that should be your priority if this is your first time in the south of Portugal and you only have 5 days to spare.

2nd Algarve Itinerary – 5 days to discover the Vicentine Coast

This Algarve itinerary will be for surf lovers and for those looking to visit a different Algarve, with rougher seas and more dramatic cliffs. Vicentine Coast is rawer, more virgin, and more genuine.

In the video below, consider only the initial part of it, as later I present details of the Southwest Alentejo (Odemira and Sines).

3rd Algarve Itinerary – 5 days exploring Ria Formosa Natural Park

These 5 days in Algarve will be spent exploring Ria Formosa and its islands. Swap the cliffs for extensive sandy beaches and paradisiacal islands. The most traditional Algarve is not here, but the warmest waters are. Great for kids and families.

4th Algarve Itinerary – Road trip in 10 days

In this itinerary to visit Algarve in 10 days, you will combine two of the previous ones and focus on them. Preferably you will select the 1st and join it to the second or third.

5th Algarve Itinerary – Road trip in 15 days

Very similar to what I did when I visited Algarve last time. Join the 3 suggestions presented and form a unique Algarve Itinerary for 15 days.

Ponta Grande in Albufeira | Algarve Itinerary

6th Algarve Itinerary – Road trip in 20 days

This will be the most complete itinerary, with some extras that I will mention later on, which are not included in the 3 original Algarve itineraries for Lagoa, Albufeira, Lagos, Ria Formosa and Vicentine Coast.

1st Algarve Itinerary – 5 days through the most touristic area: Lagoa, Albufeira and Lagos

As I mentioned before, this itinerary is focused on Lagos, Lagoa and Albufeira. In my opinion they have the best things to see and do in Algave.

Marinha Beach | Algarve Itinerary and Road trip
Marinha Beach | Algarve Itinerary and Road trip

Day 1 | Ponta da Piedade or Trail from Luz beach to Lagos

I won’t deny it: for me the best way to get to know Lagos is by taking the trail from Luz beach to Lagos, the last part of the famous fishermen’s trail. However, the hike that I am going to recommend for the 2nd day of this itinerary, in Lagoa, is more extraordinary, so if you only want to do one of them, choose the one in Lagoa (Seven Hanging Valleys).

Option 1 – Take the Trail from Luz Beach to Lagos

Do the full trail from Luz beach to Lagos, just like I did, adding a guided tour to the caves of Ponta da Piedade.

Option 2 – Visit Ponta da Piedade walkways and Dona Ana beach, Camilo beach and Students beach

Just walk around Ponta da Piedade, part of the trail mentioned before, and visit the three most beautiful beaches in Lagos, in my opinion: Dona Ana, Camilo, and Students Beach.

Ponta da Piedade in Lagos | Algarve Itinerary

Day 2 | The Seven Hanging Valleys Trail of Lagoa

You’re going to start the 2nd day of the itinerary in a big way: with the best trail in Algarve. This is the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail, and I have an article on this blog that details it and presents everything you will find along the way.

1. Start the trail in Carvoeiro and Algar Seco

I suggest you start the trail in Carvoeiro, as I did, visiting Algar Seco. There are caves in the limestone cliffs accessible by land, but be careful! There are walkways all around and it is not advisable to leave them.

2. Stop at all the beaches and discover the many sinkholes

You can and should go for a swim in all Algarve beaches you find along the way, however, do not do other activities on this day: simply enjoy the scenery and leave the Benagil Cave, for example, for the third day of your trip!

Sinkholes of the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail
Sinkholes of the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail
3. Finish the 7 Hanging Valleys Trail at Marinha Beach

Enjoy the end of the day at Marinha Beach, one of the best you’ll find on this Algarve road trip Itinerary.

Day 3 | Discover more of Lagoa, in Algarve

On this day, I propose activities divided into morning, afternoon and night! A complete and intense itinerary day in Algarve!

1. Visit Benagil Cave (in the morning)

If you want Benagil Cave all to yourself, then I advise you to go there very early, at the beginning of this third day. Obviously, the best time to appreciate its beauty is at lunchtime, when the sun is high and illuminates the cave well, but there will be much more people!

2. Rent a kayak or take a boat trip through the caves from Benagil beach (in the morning)

Benagil is an excellent place to rent a kayak or paddle board and explore the caves in the vicinity, or you can also opt for guided boat tours. Taruga organizes tours and rents kayaks, and is present on Benagil beach. If you prefer, you can always turn to Get Your Guide, Viator or Civitatis.

3. Discover the beach and Arch of Albandeira (in the afternoon)

In the early afternoon, enjoy Albandeira beach and discover its arch and caves! Attention, because the accesses are not good, the beach is a little remote!

4. Watch the sunset on the beach of Nossa Senhora da Rocha, next to the chapel on the cliff (in the afternoon)

For sunset, I recommend Nossa Senhora da Rocha beach, and the narrow cliff where the chapel with the same name is located. It is one of the places I remember most fondly from my Algarve road trip Itinerary.

Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Rocha | Algarve Itinerary

5. The sand sculptures at Sand City Theme Park (at night)

I visited it during the day and loved it. But I realized that it is possible to visit at night too, and I believe that seeing the sand sculptures illuminated must be an experience of another level. If you travel with children, they will love it, for sure!

Day 4 | Visit Albufeira, in Algarve

I also divide this day into morning, afternoon and night, to help you plan your itinerary to visit the more touristy Algarve. Make the most of the day and check my article dedicated to the best beaches in Albufeira.

1. Enjoy Castle Beach and explore its caves and rock formations (in the morning)

Albufeira has spectacular water tones and magnificent beaches. One of my favorites here was Castle Beach. It is located next to incredible rock formations at Ponta do Castelo, worthy of being explored up close. That’s what I propose here on this 4th day itinerary with things to do in Algarve: enjoy a morning at the beach and get to know Ponta do Castelo well.

Ponta do Castelo | Algarve Itinerary and road trip
Ponta do Castelo | Algarve Itinerary and road trip
2. Explore Albufeira by sea from its marina, and relax on the beaches of São Rafael, Vigia and Arrifes (in the afternoon)

The first destination in the afternoon of this 4th day Algarve Itinerary will be Albufeira Marina to catch the boat for a trip to the coast between the marina and Castle Beach. There are also some very interesting jet boat trips to take if you are interested, or even parasailing tours. 😉

After the tour, nothing better than ending the day on the beaches of São Rafael, Vigia and Arrifes.

Kayaking in Albufeira | Algarve Itinerary and road trip

3. Discover Albufeira’s nightlife on Rua Cândido dos Reis (at night)

I’m not one to go out at night, but if you are, Albufeira has a very interesting nightlife. The street of bars is Rua Cândido dos Reis. Enjoy and take the opportunity to also walk around the city, get to know it.

Day 5 | Visit Olhos de Água and Falésia beach

The essential for this day is my favorite beach in Albufeira. 😉

1. City of Albufeira and Fishermen’s beach (optional)

If you want to know the city of Albufeira and Fishermen’s beach, nothing against it. It’s beautiful, especially from the viewpoints on both sides of the beach. But for me it’s too popular and touristy!!

2. Olhos de Água Beach and Falésia Viewpoint (morning)

What I recommend is Olhos de Água beach and also Falésia beach for this fifth day’s itinerary. Olhos de Água was one of my favorite beaches in Algarve, so I recommend you spend the whole morning there, discovering its freshwater springs next to the rocky platforms of the beach, and also going up to Falésia viewpoint.

3. Falésia Beach in Albufeira (afternoon)

In the afternoon, discover the various beaches that make up Falésia Beach, or simply relax at Tomatoes Beach, also called Rocha Baixinha.

Suggestions for a 6th day visiting Algarve in Lagoa, Albufeira and Lagos

With an extra day, I would spend more time in Lagos region, therefore, 2 days in each municipality. You can go to Meia Praia, explore Ponta da Piedade further or do both activities. You can also visit the city of Lagos, discovering its main tourist attractions.

Do not include more Algarve destinations in this 5-day itinerary to visit Algarve. I could tell you to stop at Portimão, also a very nice place, but that would be wasting precious time just moving from one place to another. Leave it to another trip.

2nd Algarve Itinerary – 5 days to discover the Vicentine Coast

Vicentine Coast is also part of Algarve, but it is a wilder, more raw area. It is located between Odeceixe and Burgau, that is, in the municipalities of Aljezur and Vila do Bispo.

Day 1 | Enjoy the beaches of Odeceixe, Amoreira and Monte Clérigo

I recommend the morning for Odeceixe and the afternoon for Amoreira and Monte Clérigo. Amoreira is my favorite beach on the Vicentine Coast, and Odeceixe is a wonder of Portugal. So, start this 5-day Algarve itinerary in a big way!

1. Odeceixe beach in Aljezur, Algarve

Before heading to Amoreira, be sure to visit Odeceixe viewpoint on top of the cliffs, as the views over the sand tongue are impressive and unforgettable. The village of Odeceixe is a quiet place, you can also visit it, but don’t consider it mandatory: there is a nice windmill there, if you choose to go.

Odeceixe Beach | Algarve Itinerary and Road Trip
Odeceixe Beach | Algarve Itinerary and Road Trip
2. Amoreira and Monte Clérigo Beaches

When accessing Amoreira, take the road that leads to the area between this beach and Monte Clérigo. You should opt for Amoreira if you want to relax and enjoy the water. Monte Clérigo, in turn, has some rocky platforms by the sea that are worth exploring at low tide. Have fun in both.

Monte Clérigo platforms | Algarve Itinerary and Road Trip

Day 2 | Discover Arrifana on the Vicentine Coast

On the 2nd day of this itinerary along the Vicentine Coast, you’ll get to know the center of Aljezur, and then Arrifana region, much sought after by surfers, and with excellent viewpoints.

1. Visit Aljezur Castle

Start the day exploring Aljezur and its castle. I guarantee that in 1 or 2 hours it will be done because there is not much to see. Village museums are optional.

2. Optional: Carriagem Beach

Right after Aljezur, you have three options: go back to Amoreira beach and enjoy it in the morning, visit Carriagem beach (also with spectacular rock formations to explore at low tide) or head to Arrifana. I recommend ending the second day of this Vicentine Coast itinerary next to Arrifana for the sunset.

3. Visit Ribat da Arrifana

Before reaching Arrifana beach, take a detour to Ribat da Arrifana, a place with historic ruins and brutal viewpoints overlooking the region’s beaches and cliffs.

4. Go for a swim at Arrifana beach and watch the sunset from the Fortress Viewpoint

Catch some waves in Arrifana, and watch the sunset from the viewpoint of the fortress of Arrifana. For me, this is one of the best views on the Vicentine Coast.

Arrifana | Algarve Itinerary and Road Trip
Arrifana | Algarve Itinerary and Road Trip

Day 3 | Pontal da Carrapateira, Bordeira beach and Amado beach

Pontal da Carrapateira consists of 6km between Bordeira Beach and Amado Beach.

1. Walk along Pontal da Carrapateira walkways between Bordeira Beach and Amado Beach

There are several walkways along the route with access to viewpoints. Spend a morning here and end the day catching some waves at Amado Beach, one of the best surfing spots in Portugal, stage for national and international competitions.

2. Murração beach: optional, but more remote and wild

If you are looking for an experience on a completely remote and wild beach, off the beaten path, head to Murração. Loved it but be prepared for the terrible road to get there.

3. Pedralva Village

I recommend that you go to sleep in the village of Pedralva that night and take the opportunity to get to know the place. This is probably one of the most beautiful villages you will find on this Algarve Road Trip Itinerary.

Accommodation tip in the village of Pedralva: Slow Village

Day 4 | The beaches and sights of Vila do Bispo

On the 4th day you will explore the “end of the known world” near Sagres. I’m sure you’ll be impressed by the dramatic cliffs there.

1. Enjoy the beaches of Cordoama and Castelejo (in the morning)

Between Cordoama and Castelejo, choose one of them for a morning swim, and then go up to the Castelejo viewpoint, which gives you surreal views of the two beaches from the top of the cliff.

2. The “end of the known world” at Cabo de São Vicente (noon)

Before lunchtime, head to Cabo de São Vicente and visit the lighthouse. Prepare yourself to some of the best views in Vicentine Coast.

3. Fortress of Sagres, House of Handicrafts Mó and Mareta beach (afternoon)

On the way to Sagres, be sure to visit Beliche fortress, the beach with the same name and the Handicrafts House Mó. Visit the Fortress of Sagres, ending the day relaxing on Mareta beach, with much calmer waters than the ones you’ve experienced so far in this 5-day itinerary with things to do in Algarve.

Fortress of Sagres | Algarve Itinerary and Road Trip
Fortress of Sagres | Algarve Itinerary and Road Trip

Day 5 | From Sagres to Burgau

You will finish this itinerary in Burgau beach. But before that, how about getting to know other beaches in the region?

1. Take a surf lesson in Sagres and go swim at Martinhal beach

Start the day in Sagres with a surf lesson, how about that? Sagres is very sought after for this reason, and there are many accommodations focused on the sport that allow you to experience it. Take the opportunity for a swim at Martinhal beach.

2. Discover Ingrina, Salema and Burgau beaches, not forgetting the megalithic monuments of the region

On the way to Burgau, head to Ingrina beach, exploring the region’s megalithic heritage, and stopping at the Padrão menhir. Next stops: Salema beach and Burgau beach.

3rd Algarve Itinerary – 5 days exploring Ria Formosa Natural Park

Ria Formosa has more than 18000 hectares and is one of the wonders of nature in Portugal. In this 5-day itinerary with things to do in Algarve, I will also give you some tips on tourist attractions in the region of Vila Real de Santo António.

To get to know Ria Formosa, I recommend using the regular public transport boats that make the crossing to the islands. See my articles dedicated to Faro, Tavira, Olhão and Monte Gordo if you need more details than what I will share here.

Ria Formosa Natural Park | Algarve Itinerary

Day 1 | Visit Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim

You will start this Algarve itinerary close to the border with Spain.

1. Visit Castro Marim Castle, São Sebastião Fort, Odeleite and Beliche Dams

Go first to the interior of the region, that is, Castro Marim. Visit the Castle and Fort of São Sebastião. Optionally, go to Odeleite and Beliche dams and enjoy the views they provide.

2. Walk alongside Guadiana in Vila Real de Santo António

Follow Guadiana river, which separates Portugal from Spain, and visit the city of Vila Real de Santo António, with emphasis on the riverside walk.

3. Discover the beaches of Ponta da Areia, Monte Gordo and Manta Rota

Immerse yourself in the warm waters of Ponta da Areia Beach and end the day in Monte Gordo or Manta Rota.

Manta Rota Beach | Algarve Itinerary and road trip

Day 2 | Cacela Velha, Cabanas Island and Tavira

The 2nd day already refers to Ria Formosa.

1. Cacela Velha and its fabulous viewpoint over Ria Formosa

Cacela Velha has one of the best viewpoints in Ria Formosa, perhaps the most beautiful! Day 2 of this itinerary begins there and accept the challenge of going down to the beach, crossing the estuary on foot along the sand. If you like it, stay there all day!

2. Cross by boat to Cabanas Island

If you want to get to know the island of Cabanas, this is the day for it, but I consider it only optional. You can catch the boat next to Cabanas pier.

3. Visit the city of Tavira and its salt pans in Quatro Águas

The second day of this Algarve road trip itinerary will end in Tavira. Take the time to get to know the city by following the sights I mentioned in my in-depth article. I leave you some examples below:

  • Tavira Castle and Church of Nossa Senhora do Castelo
  • The River Gilão and the Roman Bridge of Tavira
  • The Public Garden of Tavira and the Ribeira Market
  • Quatro Águas and the Salt pans of Tavira

Day 3 | Barril Beach and Barra da Fuseta

Barril Beach was my favorite beach in Ria Formosa. Barra da Fuseta has the most brutal landscape. 🙂

1. Take the Tourist Train to Barril beach from Pedras de El Rei (in the morning)

It is a beach accessible on foot or by tourist train from Pedras de El Rei. It was one of my 5 favorite beaches when doing my own Algarve Road trip Itinerary. It’s located on the island of Tavira, and has an anchor cemetery next to the sand, which you’ll want to find out more about.

2. Cross by boat to Barra da Fuseta Beach (in the afternoon)

I didn’t cross to Barra da Fuseta, but I know that you can catch the boat at Fuseta pier. I lifted the drone in the area, and I can tell you that it was one of the places that impressed me the most due to the very white sand!

3. Santa Luzia Octopus Dinner

The Octopus of Santa Luzia is very good, and is famous! Go taste it!

Day 4 | Armona Island, Culatra and Farol from Olhão, Algarve

There are only two islands, as Farol Island is actually part of Culatra Island. You can take the boat to the three sites in Olhão.

What I recommend is visiting Armona in the morning and Culatra in the afternoon. I also advise you to buy a ticket for Culatra, returning from Farol because it is possible to walk between the two near the sea.

At the end of the day, and before leaving for Faro, be sure to visit Olhão, also tasting one of the wonders of Portuguese sweets, Folar de Olhão.

Day 5 | Deserted Island and Faro (Capital of Algarve)

On the fifth day, you have to get to know the city of Faro better, and discover another island in Ria Formosa, this one is completely deserted! 😉

1. Go to the beach on the deserted island and walk to Cabo de Santa Maria

Deserted island is accessible from Faro by boat. This island is interesting because Cabo de Santa Maria is located here: the southernmost point of mainland Portugal. It is an excellent place to end your trip through Ria Formosa and also this 5-day Algarve Road Trip itinerary.

2. Visit the main sights of the city of Faro

Faro deserves a whole morning. I have an article just about what to visit in Faro, but I leave you some examples below:

  • The Resting Arch and the walls of Faro
  • The Convent of Nossa Senhora da Assunção / Municipal Museum of Faro
  • The Cathedral of Faro
  • New Gate Pier and Faro Marina
  • Town Gate and Arab Door
  • Manuel Bivar Garden
  • Rua de Santo António
  • The Chapel of Bones at Carmo Church

Optionals – Monchique and São Brás de Alportel, for example

Naturally, you could still add to this Algarve itinerary destinations in the interior of the region, namely Monchique, São Brás de Alportel, among others. I don’t think they are essential when visiting Algarve, so I haven’t included them here.

Extra: Visit Southwest Alentejo

If you want to extend your trip, you can do so towards the north, covering the rest of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. For example, the regions of Vila Nova de Milfontes and Porto Covo.
